Rail operators are increasingly adopting digital tools, data-driven maintenance and smart depot systems to improve asset reliability and lifecycle performance. In Malaysia, Destini’s Railtec has signed a two-year agreement with Siemens Mobility to establish a reliability control centre focused on digitally enabled railway maintenance, repair and overhaul.

Malaysia, September 2026 — Destini Bhd is expanding its railway maintenance capabilities through a collaboration between its 70%-owned subsidiary, M Rail Technics Sdn Bhd (Railtec), and Siemens Mobility Sdn Bhd. The partnership is aimed at supporting Railtec’s development as a digitally enabled railway MRO service provider.

Under the two-year agreement, Railtec and Siemens Mobility will establish a reliability control centre for data-driven MRO. The scope includes digital tools and platforms, data-driven maintenance practices, automation and smart depot solutions designed to improve operational efficiency, safety, reliability, sustainability and railway asset lifecycle performance.

The collaboration will also focus on digitalising maintenance activities, upgrading depot operations and improving the management of equipment and specialised systems. Railtec personnel will receive upskilling and technical support as part of the initiative, strengthening local capabilities alongside the deployment of digital maintenance technologies.

Destini Group Managing Director Datuk Seri Dr Shahril Mokhtar said the partnership combines Siemens Mobility’s technology and digital expertise with Railtec’s local operational experience. He added that the collaboration is intended to support national rail assets while developing local technical capabilities and workforce resilience.

The agreement reflects a wider shift in railway maintenance from conventional, scheduled activities towards more data-driven and digitally supported asset management. For Malaysia’s rail sector, the development highlights the growing role of technology, workforce skills and smart depot infrastructure in improving the long-term performance of railway assets.
