NEW DELHI, January 2026 — The ongoing modernization of railway networks throughout Asia is of paramount importance for facilitating economic growth and enhancing connectivity among nations. In this regard, India’s commitment to upgrading its railway infrastructure is particularly commendable, as demonstrated by a substantial expansion of high-speed capable track sections. Indian Railways has reported that tracks designed to accommodate speeds of 110 km/h and above currently cover approximately 80% of the national railway network. Recent years have witnessed extensive track renewal efforts, with over 6,851 kilometers of track renewed in the 2024-25 financial year. Additionally, more than 7,500 kilometers of track renewal are currently in progress for the 2025-26 financial year, further enhancing the network's overall capabilities.
