The programme marked an important step in strengthening industry knowledge and talent development within the rail ecosystem, bringing together professionals, academics, and aspiring industry leaders under one platform.
Held from 19–21 May 2026 at the Metro System Academy UTHM Training Centre in Sungai Buloh, the 3-Day Professional Certificate in Railway Station Management focused on the evolving role of railway stations in modern mobility systems.
Today’s railway stations are no longer viewed merely as transit points. They are increasingly becoming integrated mobility hubs that combine territorial planning, intermodality, retail, revenue generation, and smart technologies powered by Artificial Intelligence.
The programme explored key topics shaping the future of railway infrastructure, including mobility and territorial planning, intermodal transport integration, retail and non-fare revenue opportunities, smart station management, and the application of Artificial Intelligence in rail operations.
Participants also gained insights directly from international and local industry experts, including:
Fabrice MORENON, PhD – SNCF Hubs & Connexions
Sylvain JAMET – SNCF Gares & Connexions, Grand Est Region
Marc Guigon – MG Consult
Mohd Fahmy Abdullah, PhD, P.Tech, CILT, YSN-ASM – Metro System Academy UTHM
Mohd Syafiq Syazwan Mustafa (PhD, P.Tech., Eng.Tech.) – Metro System Academy UTHM
The programme reflects the growing importance of industry-academic collaboration in preparing future-ready rail professionals capable of managing increasingly complex and technology-driven transport systems.
Rail Asia applauds all participating organisations for investing in human capital development and supporting initiatives that will help shape a smarter, more connected, and sustainable rail industry across the region.
