KUALA LUMPUR — Saripuddin Kasim has resigned as chairman of Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation (MRT Corp), effective March 1, to pursue other personal and professional interests.

In a statement issued yesterday, MRT Corp conveyed its appreciation for Saripuddin’s leadership and contributions during his tenure, noting his role in guiding the organisation through several key milestones and strategic initiatives. The company also extended its best wishes for his future endeavours.

Saripuddin was appointed chairman of MRT Corp on Nov 19, 2025. During his time at the helm, he oversaw corporate governance, operational oversight and long-term development strategies for the company, which plays a central role in Malaysia’s urban rail infrastructure development.

Under his leadership, MRT Corp continued to strengthen its position as a key driver of the country’s public transportation expansion and rapid transit initiatives.

The board and management of MRT Corp expressed confidence that the organisation will continue advancing its strategic goals and maintaining operational excellence under new leadership, ensuring the sustained growth of Malaysia’s rapid transit network.
