China Completes Key Bridge on Xiong'an-Xinzhou High-Speed Railway
The central span of the Baoding East Super-Major Bridge, an 11-kilometre-long engineering feat forming part of the 342-kilometre Xiong'an–Xinzhou high-speed railway, has been successfully joined, marking a significant construction milestone in China's expanding rail network. Project officials announced that the China Railway 14th Bureau Group is the contractor overseeing the bridge construction.
Located in Hebei Province, the Baoding East Bridge spans critical infrastructure routes, including the heavily trafficked Beijing–Hong Kong–Macau Expressway. Engineers employed advanced construction techniques to complete the span without disrupting highway traffic, adhering to rigorous safety and structural standards.
According to China Central Television (CCTV) and Xinhua News Agency, this bridge is a vital component of the Xiong'an–Xinzhou line, connecting Xiong'an New Area in Hebei Province with Xinzhou City in Shanxi Province. The rail line forms part of China's strategic "8 Vertical and 8 Horizontal" high-speed rail corridor framework, aimed at boosting inter-regional mobility and economic integration.
When operational—anticipated by late 2025 or early 2026—the new high-speed line is expected to cut travel times across the northern and central regions significantly, facilitate passenger and cargo movement, and stimulate economic development in Hebei, Shanxi, and surrounding provinces.
