Central Railway Enhances Navi Mumbai-Uran Connectivity with 10 New Daily Services
MUMBAI, December 2025 — Suburban railway services connecting Navi Mumbai and Uran are set to significantly improve, with the addition of ten new daily train services operated by Central Railway. This expansion aims to bolster connectivity in a rapidly developing corridor, offering much-needed relief to commuters who have increasingly relied on road transport.
The new schedule will introduce four additional trips operating between Nerul and Uran in both directions, complemented by six more trips connecting Belapur and Uran. These services will include essential halts at Targhar and Gavhan stations, catering to local hubs and growing passenger demand in the region.
This enhancement is particularly timely given the rapid residential and industrial growth along the Uran corridor. The improved rail access is expected to ease daily commutes for thousands of residents and support the region's economic development.
A key development is the enhanced connectivity to Targhar station, strategically positioned as a vital hub for the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). Targhar station is slated to feature advanced amenities, including terrace parking, integrated shuttle services, retail spaces, and three dedicated railway platforms, underscoring its role in the region's future infrastructure.
The announcement, originating from a communication between Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has been welcomed as a significant step towards making daily travel easier for Mumbaikars. While the exact launch date is pending, the Railway Board has directed Central Railway to implement these changes at the earliest opportunity, signaling a commitment to improving passenger convenience.
