Indian Railways Expands Vande Bharat Network with Four New High-Speed Routes, Boosting Inter-City Connectivity

INDIA, November 2025 — Indian Railways is significantly advancing its modernization efforts with the introduction of four new Vande Bharat Express trains, aimed at enhancing high-speed rail connectivity across the nation. This expansion is a key component of the government's strategy to revolutionize the rail network and improve passenger travel experiences.

The newly launched routes will connect major cities including Bengaluru and Kochi, Firozpur Cantt and Delhi, Varanasi and Khajuraho, and Lucknow and Saharanpur. These services are designed to drastically reduce travel times over significant distances, with the Bengaluru-Kochi route covering 519 km and the Firozpur Cantt-Delhi route spanning 486 km. With these additions, the total number of Vande Bharat trains operating across India will rise to 164, bolstering the country's semi-high-speed rail capabilities.

This expansion is poised to transform inter-city travel by offering faster, more comfortable, and efficient journeys, thereby stimulating economic activity in the connected regions. It represents a substantial step towards making long-distance rail a more attractive and viable option for millions of passengers, contributing to the overall efficiency and modernization of India's vast railway infrastructure.

The Vande Bharat trains are equipped with advanced amenities to ensure a premium travel experience. These include CCTV cameras for safety, emergency alarm buttons, communication units for passenger-staff interaction, and specialized facilities for differently-abled passengers. Enhanced comfort is further provided through improved seating, superior air conditioning, and sound-proofing for a quieter journey.

The introduction of these four new Vande Bharat Express services underscores Indian Railways' commitment to future-ready travel. As part of a broader vision to upgrade the national rail system, these trains are setting a new standard for fast, safe, and comfortable long-distance travel, paving the way for further network expansion and transformation in the coming years.
