Kalyana Karnataka Rail Network Upgrade Demanded: KKCCI Proposes Vande Bharat Extension and High-Speed Rail Routing
KALABURAGI, November 2025 — A delegation from the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) has formally urged Central Railway to implement major improvements to passenger train services and railway infrastructure across the Kalyana Karnataka region. The initiative aims to strengthen regional connectivity and promote economic growth through enhanced rail transport.
The chamber’s memorandum outlined several key proposals. These include the extension of the Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express to Kalaburagi with adjusted timings for greater passenger convenience. It also recommended routing the proposed Mumbai-Bengaluru High-Speed or Semi-High-Speed train via Solapur-Kalaburagi-Wadi-Bengaluru. Additional requests include the introduction of a new daily Kalaburagi-Bengaluru-Mysuru Express, more MEMU and commuter train services, and the restoration of certain pre-COVID services.
Beyond service enhancements, the memorandum emphasized the need for critical infrastructure upgrades, such as the expansion of pit lines at Kalaburagi station, construction of a new terminal platform, and accelerated implementation of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at key stations. The completion of a Road Under Bridge at Shahabad and the development of a second entrance at Kalaburagi station were also highlighted as priorities.
If implemented, these improvements are expected to significantly enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency. By addressing these proposals, Central Railway can support balanced regional development and better integrate Kalyana Karnataka into the national rail network, thereby contributing to the region’s economic vitality.
