Siemens Eyes Vietnam’s North-South High-Speed Rail Project Amid Growing Foreign Interest
Siemens has expressed interest in constructing Vietnam's high-speed railroad. The proposal was presented to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh during a meeting in Tianjin, China. Siemens, a company with a broad portfolio including industry, infrastructure, transportation, and healthcare, reported revenues of EUR75.9 billion last year.
Prime Minister Chinh welcomed Siemens' ambition to increase its investments, particularly in infrastructure projects like the North-South high-speed rail. This rail project, approved in November 2024, is estimated to cost VND1.7 quadrillion and will span 1,541 km, connecting Hanoi and HCMC through 20 provinces and cities. Several domestic and foreign companies have shown interest in the project, and Vietnam is also considering expanding rail links with China.
