Titagarh Rail Systems Awarded ₹24.81 Billion Contract for Mumbai Metro Line 5
MUMBAI, November 2025 — Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL) has secured a significant contract from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), marking a substantial advancement in the development of Mumbai's urban rail network. This agreement underscores the ongoing expansion of metro infrastructure in one of India's busiest metropolitan areas.
The Letter of Acceptance is for a project valued at ₹24.81 billion, approximately ₹2,481 crore. The scope of work includes the design and supply of 132 Metro coaches, the implementation of signalling systems, and the installation of various infrastructure components across 16 stations for Mumbai Metro Line 5.
This substantial order is expected to significantly bolster TRSL's order book and reinforce its standing within the competitive urban transportation infrastructure sector. The contract directly supports the expansion of Mumbai's metro network, aiming to enhance public transportation efficiency and capacity.
Manufacturing for this project will take place at TRSL's Uttarpara facility in Kolkata, which is already engaged in producing rolling stock for other metro projects. This contract aligns with broader trends of increased investment in rail infrastructure across India to meet growing urban mobility demands.
