Vietnam–China Rail Tourism Soars in 2025 as High-Speed Connectivity Spurs Regional Travel

High-speed rail tourism between Vietnam and China is expected to see a significant boost in 2025. Yunnan Province in China has experienced a surge in Vietnamese tourists, with over 27,200 group travellers entering through the Hekou Border Station in the first six months of the year, marking a 74.68% increase compared to 2024.

The growth is attributed to improved railway infrastructure, reduced travel times, and streamlined immigration processes. Enhanced facilities at Hekou, including bilingual signage and better coordination between the transport and tourism sectors, have made it a key gateway for rail tourism. This surge reflects a growing preference for high-speed rail among Vietnamese tourists due to its convenience, speed, and affordability, fostering stronger regional connections and economic activity.
