As Central Asian nations prioritize rail infrastructure development, Uzbekistan is reinforcing its commitment to advanced passenger transport. The national railway company, UTY, has awarded Talgo a significant ten-year maintenance contract valued at €80 million, ensuring the continued operational excellence of its high-speed fleet.

Uzbekistan continues to solidify its position as a key player in Central Asian rail connectivity, with a recent major contract underscoring its dedication to modernizing its high-speed rail network. This strategic investment highlights the growing importance of reliable and efficient rail infrastructure in the region's economic development.

Talgo, a leader in lightweight, high-speed rail vehicle design and manufacturing, has secured a comprehensive ten-year maintenance contract worth approximately €80 million with Uzbekistan Temir Yollari (UTY). This agreement, the largest of its kind for Talgo in Uzbekistan, will cover the maintenance of the country's fleet of six Talgo 250 trains. These trains are capable of commercial speeds up to 230 km/h, with a design speed of 275 km/h, ensuring swift and dependable passenger services.

The contract ensures the continued performance, reliability, and availability of the Talgo 250 fleet for the next decade. A unique feature of these trains in Uzbekistan is their ability to operate on the country's 1,520 mm broad gauge track without requiring a change in gauge, seamlessly integrating with the existing network and enabling efficient, uninterrupted high-speed services across the nation.

This development builds upon Talgo's long-standing presence in Uzbekistan, which began with the acquisition of its first trains in 2009. The sustained partnership signifies Uzbekistan's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge rail technology to enhance national connectivity and passenger experience. The ongoing investment in advanced rail systems aligns with broader trends across Asia, where countries are increasingly focusing on sustainable, high-speed transportation to drive economic growth and improve regional integration.
