India Accelerates Rail Modernization with Four New Vande Bharat Services

VARANASI, NOVEMBER 2025 —India’s commitment to modernizing its rail network has taken a major step forward with the unveiling of four new Vande Bharat trains. This initiative aims to significantly reduce travel times between key cities and foster economic growth across important regions.

The newly launched services include the Banaras-Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express, connecting Varanasi with Khajuraho and cutting travel time by approximately two hours and 40 minutes. The Lucknow-Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express links Uttar Pradesh’s capital to Saharanpur in seven hours and 45 minutes, while also improving access to Haridwar. The Firozpur-Delhi Vande Bharat Express offers a swift journey between Delhi and Punjab in six hours and 40 minutes. In South India, the Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express reduces travel time between these economic hubs from over ten hours to eight hours and 40 minutes.

These new services promise a faster, more efficient, and comfortable travel experience. By connecting major economic centers and pilgrimage sites, the trains are expected to boost tourism, facilitate business, and enhance the economic and cultural fabric of the regions served.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the trains, emphasizing ongoing efforts to upgrade India’s railway infrastructure. Designed for energy efficiency and high-speed performance, the Vande Bharat trains align with the nation’s goals of sustainable transportation and operational efficiency within Indian Railways.

As part of a broader strategy to modernize rail travel, these new Vande Bharat services represent a crucial step toward a more connected and efficient India. Their success is expected to pave the way for further expansion of semi-high-speed services across the country, reinforcing India’s position in global rail innovation.
