Siemens Mobility Showcases Signaling X for Enhanced Metro Operations with Live Demonstration in Singapore

SINGAPORE, November 2025 — Siemens Mobility has successfully demonstrated its innovative Signaling X solution in a live metro operation setting at the Singapore Rail Test Centre (SRTC), marking a significant advancement in urban rail technology. This breakthrough brings Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) into a centralized, cloud-ready infrastructure, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable public transportation systems worldwide.

The Signaling X platform integrates critical signaling, interlocking, and control systems onto standard Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware, utilizing Siemens Mobility's Distributed Smart Safe System (DS3) platform. This approach allows safety-critical functions to run within a scalable, cyber-secure private cloud environment. The live demonstration showcased the system's capability to manage metro operations effectively, highlighting its readiness for the mass transit market following its introduction at InnoTrans 2024.

This technological leap promises substantial benefits for cities, with potential gains of up to 20% in operational efficiency and up to 30% in energy savings. By enabling trains to run at closer intervals safely, Signaling X directly addresses the growing demand for increased capacity and reduced wait times in urban transit, contributing to more sustainable mobility solutions. Furthermore, the platform's design makes data readily available for future artificial intelligence applications.

Marc Ludwig, CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, described the event as a milestone in the digital transformation of mass transit. He emphasized that Signaling X consolidates various signaling systems onto a single, open platform, building on its proven reliability in mainline applications. The successful showcase in a CBTC mass transit test environment underscores the solution's versatility and readiness for global deployment.

Siemens Mobility's Signaling X represents a forward-looking approach to rail infrastructure, simplifying complex systems and reducing reliance on proprietary hardware. Its cloud-ready architecture and focus on COTS hardware position it as a key enabler for the future of intelligent, efficient, and sustainable urban rail networks.
