Speaking on the proposed fare structure, Loke said the cross-border rail service is unlikely to be priced as affordably as urban public transport in Kuala Lumpur. However, he stressed that the RTS Link would remain more economical than driving a private vehicle into Singapore. Final ticket prices are expected to be announced in the second half of 2026.
At present, Singapore-registered vehicles entering Malaysia are subject to a RM20 (US$5.10) toll charge. Meanwhile, foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore via Tuas Checkpoint pay S$2.10, and S$0.80 when departing through Woodlands Checkpoint, according to the Land Transport Authority. In addition, Singapore imposes a reciprocal Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) fee of S$6.40 per entry on foreign cars.
