Etihad Rail Passenger Network Details Revealed: 2026 Launch, Key Stations, and Cross-Border Link
ABU DHABI, October 2025 — The United Arab Emirates’ Etihad Rail project is progressing rapidly, with new details revealed ahead of its anticipated passenger-service launch in 2026. The network aims to revolutionize inter-city travel across the Emirates, offering a modern, efficient, and scenic alternative to road transport while supporting the nation’s wider economic and infrastructure goals.
The passenger network will connect 11 cities and regions, stretching from Al Sila in Abu Dhabi’s western region to Fujairah on the east coast. The route passes through key hubs such as Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Sharjah, Al Dhaid, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. Each train is designed to carry up to 400 passengers, with travel times expected to be approximately 57 minutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and around 105 minutes from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah.
The trains will operate on dedicated tracks separate from road traffic to enhance safety and efficiency. The network is also being developed for seamless integration with local transit systems, including metro lines, buses, and last-mile connections. Future plans include high-speed services capable of reaching up to 350 km/h, cutting travel time between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to as little as 30 minutes.
Beyond domestic connectivity, the project also envisions regional integration through a cross-border connection with Oman via the Hafeet Rail link to Sohar. This expansion is expected to enhance both passenger and freight movement, further strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
Etihad Rail’s passenger network represents a major step forward in the UAE’s public transportation evolution. By improving connectivity, reducing road congestion, and promoting sustainable mobility, the 2026 launch is set to usher in a new era of efficient and comfortable rail travel, reinforcing the UAE’s vision as a global hub of innovation and connectivity.
