Guizhou Province Achieves Full National High-Speed Rail Connectivity with New Line Opening

GUIYANG, November 2025 —Southwest China’s Guizhou province has inaugurated a new high‑speed rail link between Panzhou and Xingyi a 99‑km stretch designed for up to 250 km/h officially launching on 28 November 2025. This line completes Guizhou’s ambition to connect all its city‑level administrative centres to the national high‑speed network, making it the first province in Southwest China with full “city‑to‑city” HSR coverage.

The new rail reduces travel times significantly: journeys between Xingyi and Panzhou by rail now take about 33 minutes, and travel from Xingyi to Guiyang is cut to roughly 1 hour 56 minutes. The railway traverses complex karst terrain requiring tunnels and bridge work yet succeeds in integrating previously remote or hard‑to‑reach regions into the broader Chinese high-speed rail grid.

Beyond mobility, the line is expected to catalyze economic growth, especially in tourism: regions around scenic areas such as Wanfenglin will become far more accessible, while the province aims to develop accompanying logistics parks, economic clusters, and tourist‑service hubs along the rail corridor. The increased accessibility also promises improved convenience for residents, potentially transforming everyday mobility and intercity travel patterns across Guizhou.
