Indian Railways Boosts Northern Connectivity: New Vande Bharat and Extended Services Link Ferozepur to Delhi

FEROZPUR, November 2025 — Indian Railways is set to enhance rail connectivity in its northern region with the introduction of new services and the extension of existing ones, aiming to bolster passenger travel, trade, and regional accessibility. This initiative aligns with the nation's broader goals of modernizing its rail network and improving transportation infrastructure.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to flag off four new Vande Bharat Express trains on November 7. Concurrently, the Moga-New Delhi Intercity Express will be extended to Ferozepur, providing a direct link to the national capital. The Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, connecting Ferozepur with Delhi via key cities like Bathinda, Patiala, and Ambala, significantly reducing travel time.

These new services are expected to have a substantial impact on the region. They are anticipated to boost tourism and trade by offering faster and more convenient travel options for passengers and businessmen. Furthermore, the enhanced connectivity will benefit thousands of Army personnel and officials stationed in military stations along the route, facilitating easier travel to and from their homes or postings.

This expansion of rail services is part of a larger trend of railway development in the area. Earlier this year, train services to Haridwar and Huzur Sahib in Nanded, Maharashtra, were initiated, along with a new train to Rameshwaram. The Ferozepur-Chandigarh train, which had been inactive, has also been resumed, underscoring a commitment to revitalizing and expanding rail networks.

By introducing these modern, high-speed trains and extending services to underserved routes, Indian Railways is reinforcing its role in driving economic growth and improving the quality of life for citizens. The strategic placement of these services aims to integrate remote areas more effectively into the national transportation grid, reflecting a continued investment in critical infrastructure.
