NEW TAIPEI, August 2025 — The New Taipei Metro Corporation (NTMC) is progressively expanding its rail offerings in support of the largely low-density municipality surrounding Taipei. Currently,

NTMC operates two light rail systems the Danhai LRT (Green Mountain and Blue Sea Lines) and the Ankeng LRT alongside the Circular Line, which is undergoing extension work. President Kuo-Chi Wu emphasized that although New Taipei is home to about four million people, its population density remains significantly lower than that of Taipei’s core.

The Sanying (Light Blue) Line, a 14.3 km automated metro with 12 stations, is under construction and slated to open in early 2026. These expansions are critical to enhancing connectivity, supporting sustainable growth, alleviating congestion, and offering modern, efficient transit options for New Taipei’s residents.
