North Western Railway Finalizes Pachpadra Refinery Rail Link, Boosting Freight Capacity
JAIPUR, October 2025 — The North Western Railway’s (NWR) Jodhpur Division has finalized planning to connect the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (Pachpadra Refinery) in Balotra district, Rajasthan, to the national rail network. The move is expected to enhance logistical efficiency and support regional economic growth.
According to divisional railway manager (DRM) Anurag Tripathi, all technical formalities for the siding and connection have been completed, and a proposal has been submitted to the refinery’s management. Discussions on lease, rent, and other financial arrangements related to the linked power terminal are also underway.
The project is anticipated to generate significant economic benefits for both railway operations and the wider state economy. Freight volumes from the refinery are expected to rise sharply, creating new momentum for the rail network and supporting regional development in Rajasthan.
This initiative forms part of NWR’s broader infrastructure modernization efforts. The rail network is simultaneously advancing the rollout of the Kavach anti-collision system across its 5,500 km route, beginning with the Jodhpur–Jaipur section and soon extending to Bikaner and Ajmer divisions.
The integration of the Pachpadra Refinery into the rail network highlights the critical role of robust railway infrastructure in supporting major industrial projects and strengthening India’s logistics-driven growth. By connecting the refinery by rail, the region lays the groundwork for enhanced industrial logistics and sustainable economic expansion.
