RAIL ASIA Team Visits MARIC Headquarters to Strengthen Local Rail Collaboration

The Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation (MARIC) has launched the Malaysia Rail Industry Directory, a strategic publication that showcases the nation’s rail industry capabilities to both domestic stakeholders and international markets. The directory serves as a comprehensive reference profiling MARIC’s member companies while highlighting Malaysia’s growing readiness and capacity to participate in global rail supply chains.

Featuring more than seventy member companies across key subsystems including rolling stock, signalling, trackwork, telecommunications, depot equipment, and power supply, the directory underscores Malaysia’s position as an increasingly competitive and reliable player within the regional and global rail ecosystem.

The Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation (MARIC) and Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) have entered into a collaborative partnership to introduce a training programme titled “Peneraju Skill Plus Professional Rolling Stock Maintenance.” This initiative is designed to meet the immediate demand for skilled professionals while strengthening university industry collaboration as a catalyst for human capital development in rail technology, both within Malaysia and across the region. Through this programme, participants will gain real-world exposure at leading railway companies, enabling them to develop the technical competence and practical skills required in rolling stock maintenance. Ultimately, the programme aims to enhance participants’ employability and prepare them to contribute effectively to the rail workforce upon completion.

In conjunction with this initiative, the RAIL ASIA team recently paid a courtesy visit to the Malaysia Rail Industry Corporation (MARIC) headquarters, where they were warmly received by YBhg Datuk Dr. Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman, President of MARIC.

The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s domestic rail industry and enhancing the participation of local players in regional and international projects.

During the session, Datuk Dr. Yusoff shared his insights on the current rail market landscape and MARIC’s ongoing initiatives to promote Malaysian companies within the sector. One of the highlights of the discussion was the Malaysia Rail Industry Directory, an initiative by MARIC that serves as a strategic platform to showcase Malaysia’s rail industry capabilities to both domestic stakeholders and international markets.

The visit concluded with both parties expressing their shared commitment to advancing Malaysia’s rail technology, innovation, and industry competitiveness.
