Ramkrishna Forgings Targets 20% Rail Revenue Share by 2030 with Bullet Train Components
KOLKATA, October 2025 — Ramkrishna Forgings Ltd is pursuing a major expansion into the railway sector, seeking to elevate its rail-business revenue share to around 20 percent by 2030, up from roughly six percent today.
Central to this drive is a 51:49 joint venture with Titagarh Rail Systems, known as Ramkrishna Titagarh Rail Wheels Ltd, which will establish a forged-wheel manufacturing facility near Chennai with an annual capacity of about 228,000 wheels and a capital expenditure of approximately ₹2,000 crore. The company expects around 80 percent utilisation of this plant over the next five years, contributing nearly ₹2,000 crore to revenue.
In tandem, Ramkrishna Forgings is scaling up its design and production of bogie frames and undercarriage systems for conventional and high-speed trains, including a ₹270 crore order to supply bogie frames for 32 units of the Vande Bharat train sets. The company also plans to explore export opportunities in the European rail market, aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence.
By leveraging its established expertise in forging and heavy-metal engineering, Ramkrishna Forgings aims to position itself as a key supplier within India’s rapidly expanding railway ecosystem and the broader global rail industry.
