Smart and Green Rail Innovations Lead at 2025 GBA Rail Transit Expo

GUANGZHOU, November 2025 — he 2025 Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Rail Transit Industry Exhibition concluded in Guangzhou, spotlighting major advancements in smart, sustainable, and passenger-focused rail technologies. The event reaffirmed the GBA’s role as a key hub for innovation in urban rail development and a growing centre for global collaboration in the transit industry.

Key highlights included PCI Technology Group’s latest urban rail solutions, featuring communication systems that cut costs by 35% and reduced cabinet space requirements by 60%. The company also showcased intelligent robots designed to support metro station operations. Guangzhou Metro introduced its Swifton OS, a next-generation smart operating system for integrated mobility, and debuted the Green Smart Metro Train, co-developed with CRRC. This environmentally friendly train features folding seats, smart windows, and other enhancements aimed at improving energy efficiency and passenger comfort.

These innovations reflect a broader shift toward more efficient, greener, and user-centric metro systems across China and beyond. The exhibition also underscored the rapid growth of Guangzhou’s rail transit industry, which has already reached a market scale of more than 270 billion yuan and is projected to expand to 350 billion yuan by 2027 further cementing the city’s position as a leader in rail technology and manufacturing.

With participation from over 70 countries and regions, the expo served as a platform for international cooperation, technology exchange, and strategic partnership building. The showcased developments highlight an industry-wide movement toward smarter, greener, and more connected rail systems key to meeting the challenges of urbanization and shaping the future of global transit.
