State Railway of Thailand Adjusts Services Amidst Southern Flooding
BANGKOK, November 2025 — Severe flooding across southern Thailand has caused major disruption on the southern railway corridor operated by SRT. Heavy rains inundated tracks and stations particularly around Hat Yai Junction — washing away ballast, damaging embankments, and putting track safety at risk.
In response, SRT has suspended dozens of long‑distance and local train services and adjusted the origin and destination stations for several others. Some services that typically ran all the way to the deep south are now truncated: for example, certain trains that would go beyond Phatthalung or Hat Yai now stop at Phatthalung or are rerouted to safer terminus points.
As floodwaters recede and repair crews complete track and signalling inspections especially in the Phatthalung area SRT has gradually restored partial service on some routes. At the same time, passengers holding advance tickets for cancelled or modified services are being offered full refunds.
Despite the partial resumption of services, the southern railway network remains fragile: full restoration hinges on completion of infrastructure repairs and continued improvement in flood conditions. SRT continues to monitor the situation and warns travellers to check official channels before planning journeys.
