THSR Confirms Normal Operations as Typhoon Ragasa Nears
TAIWAN, September 2025 — With Typhoon Ragasa nearing Taiwan, the nation's critical transportation networks are under scrutiny. The Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) has provided an update on its operational status.
THSR announced that all services are scheduled to run as normal on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. This decision is based on assessments from the Central Weather Administration. The company has also issued a public advisory, urging residents near rail lines to secure loose items such as signs, scaffolding, and tarps that could pose a risk to train operations due to strong winds.
This proactive approach ensures passenger continuity while prioritizing safety. THSR has outlined a policy for ticket holders whose travel dates fall within the sea warning period, allowing for full refunds without service charges within one year, regardless of whether the ticket was used or service was disrupted.
Passengers should be aware that any service delays caused by speed restrictions implemented as a safety measure during the typhoon will not be eligible for compensation under the company's standard passenger rules.
The commitment to maintaining service operations, coupled with clear safety advisories and refund policies, demonstrates the resilience and preparedness of Taiwan's high-speed rail infrastructure in the face of severe weather events, aligning with the region's focus on reliable transportation systems.
