Varanasi Officials Review Progress on Rail-Cum-Road Ganga Bridge
Divisional Commissioner S. Rajalingam and railway officials recently inspected the construction progress of the new rail-cum-road bridge over the Ganga in Varanasi. The review addressed key challenges such as traffic rerouting, land ownership near the Grand Trunk Road, integration of state utilities like Namo Ghat access, and the expansion of the Dart Bridge to six lanes.
During the inspection, officials explored four potential options for rerouting traffic to minimise disruptions, with railway officials set to assess their feasibility. The Revenue Department assured that land acquisition would proceed smoothly, as all necessary land is under government control. Railway officials also confirmed that the access road to Namo Ghat would be widened to boost local tourism and the economy. The Dart Bridge expansion to six lanes is slated for completion alongside the new bridge project."
