World's First 3D-Printed Railway Station Build in Japan in Six Hours
Japan has introduced the world’s first 3D-printed railway station at Hatsushima Station in Arida, Wakayama Prefecture.
Developed by Serendix in partnership with JR West and architecture studio Neuob, the new 10 sqm station structure replaces a wooden building originally constructed in 1948.
JR West aims to open the station to the public by July 2025, potentially setting the blueprint for future low-impact, high-efficiency infrastructure builds across Japan and beyond.
